Don't Go Overseas for Rhinoplasty
Transcript
I'm often asked - "Isn't rhinoplasty cheaper overseas?" And yes, it can be; but cheaper doesn't always mean safer. What you save in pounds you may risk in your health; your result; and your peace of mind. Here is an example of one of the many patients I've seen return with complications that include poor healing, asymmetry, even infections. And much like this case, many of them need corrective surgery here in the UK. The more serious complications I have seen include septal haematoma, which can unfortunately lead to an even more serious septal perforation and complete loss of septal cartilage. These complications can worsen the appearance - and cause difficult deformities that need complex surgery to fix. For example, I recently had to revise a patient, who had her surgery abroad. Three weeks post-surgery, she had a septal hematoma and required an emergency incision to remove the hematoma and abscess. This led to the loss of septal cartilage and three years later, revision surgery using a rib graft. By contrast, in the UK, you're protected by strict medical standards. Our hospitals are regulated, and our surgeons are qualified. So if something goes wrong, you're never left alone. I see many patients, who have flown home with bandages still on their face. No aftercare, no continuity, and no one to call if things don't go to plan. That's the reality for many choosing to go abroad for surgery. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons estimates, over 80% of revision rhinoplasties in the UK are on patients who had their first surgery overseas. Which is a statistic that speaks for itself. Now compare that with our approach: in-person consultations, pre-op imaging, a clear understanding of your goals, and structured aftercare. We don't just operate - we support you before, during, and long after surgery. This isn't just cosmetic - it's your face - the 'centrepiece' of how the world sees you. A rhinoplasty, like these results 4 months post corrective surgery, should look natural; refined; and balanced. That takes planning, precision and experience. So before you book that flight, ask yourself: what's really important to you? The cheapest deal; or the best outcome - and the safest care. Thank you for watching, and if you're considering rhinoplasty - please do come speak to us first. We'll talk through your goals; your concerns; and help you make the decision that's right for you.
